Canberra Imaging Group (CIG) is fully committed to excellence in all areas of diagnostic and interventional imaging. The organisation actively maintains and enhances professional accreditations across a number of fields.
We invest in the most advanced medical imaging technology and maintain high standards of clinical expertise.
All of our clinics participate in the Department of Health Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme.
Information and education are a significant part of the services provided by CIG, including relevant publications for patients and clinicians. CIG regularly holds education forums for referring practitioners on many critical topics.
CIG maintains a high level of diagnostic imaging technology and clinical expertise, providing all current subspecialties in imaging and imaging guided interventional work.
Quality Management
Canberra Imaging Group has in place an organisation-wide Continuous Quality Improvement Program. This program demonstrates our commitment to improving the quality and standard of our services to patients, referring doctors and hospitals. In implementing the program, CIG strives to:
- provide an environment that fosters quality rather than apportioning blame,
- assess the quality of care using a variety of data sources,
- apply a cycle of quality improvement aimed at minimising risk by identifying problems in the delivery of care; planning and implementing changes to address identified problems and monitoring the impact of corrective steps,
- monitor the quality of patient care, and
- form a partnership with our patients, referring doctors and hospitals.
The various elements described in the program are annually reviewed and refined as issues emerge in the course of monitoring and reviewing the quality of CIG services. The program is an integral part of the organisational structure of CIG and includes an active Clinical Risk and Audit Committee, a Credentialing Sub Committee, a Clinical Review Sub Committee which fosters medical peer review and case discussion, and a Patient Mortality and Morbidity Sub Committee.
Peer Review Program
Canberra Imaging Group is committed to excellence and runs a thorough internal Peer Review program where radiologists review studies from their peers. This process ensures a high quality diagnostic report is maintained from CIG.

The CIG Continuous Quality Improvement Program – Clinical Services – demonstrates our commitment to improving the quality, standard and safety of our services to patients, referring doctors and hospitals. The system elements described in the document are reviewed and refined as issues emerge while monitoring and reviewing the quality of CIG services.
The program references Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare – National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards – 2021, Department of Health Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme, Stage 2 Standards, RANZCR MQAP Mammography Program and RANZCR MRI Quality and Accreditation Program.
All CIG sites meet and hold current Stage 2 certification to the Department of Health diagnostic imaging accreditation standards – Health and Disability Auditing Australia is the audit agency. The most recent audits were conducted in 2020.
The organisation’s Angiography and Interventional Suite was accredited to ISO 9001 Certification at its inception in 2006. Certification to National Safety and Quality Health Service Accreditation Standards began in 2012, with Global-Mark being our current audit agency and JAZ ANZ the certification body. The site was a participant in the pilot study that evaluated the standards in 2011. The most recent audit conducted in August 2022 resulted in successful re-accreditation to 2025.
All mammography services hold current RANZCR MQAP Certification and all MRI patient services are accredited by the RANZCR MRI Quality Accreditation Program.
